Walter P. Oldham Jr. of North Hutchinson Island, Florida, died at home on October 22. Mr. Oldham, 90, was a former resident of Forestdale.
A native of Brockton, he was the son of Walter and Francis Oldham. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1948, and obtained his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.
He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951 and retired in 1990 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4.
Mr. Oldham worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a civil engineer and after his retirement continued his career in private practice as owner of Milne Associates.
After raising his family in Brockton and Forestdale, he retired to Florida in 2000.
His interests included traveling the world, the Riverside Theatre, reading books about history and the military, and listening to music.
He was a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program serving the Treasure Coast.
Mr. Oldham leaves his partner of 16 years, Linda Edwards; his children, Margaret and Kevin Burbank of Sandwich, Richard Oldham of Mattapoisett, Patricia Oldham of Vero Beach, Florida, James and Julie Oldham of Forestdale, Stephen Oldham and Christine Bonner of Wareham, Kathleen and James Perry of Madison, Florida, Amy and Ian Duffield of West Yarmouth, Michael Oldham of Buzzards Bay and Charles and Casey Oldham of Hampton, New Hampshire; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and additional family members.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna (Flanagan) Oldham; his second wife, Dolores (Kaiser) Oldham; and his son Walter P. Oldham III.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Tuesday, November 10, at Parish of Christ the King in Mashpee.
Burial with military honors was at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
