I am writing in support of Jay McMahon. candidate for state senate. Jay is the only candidate talking about how to recover from this shutdown with logical, relevant solutions. I like his idea of creating a 30-day meals tax holiday to encourage people to socialize in restaurants again. Local restaurants play an important role in the vitality of the Cape Cod economy.

Jay is suggesting a one-year moratorium on new business regulations. I agree that we should not be adding additional burdens to the business community. Wherever possible we should be making it easier on them to do business. This is particularly important on Cape Cod, where small businesses are the primary market and their success will contribute to sustaining and supporting the growth of the Cape Cod economy.

Jay is proposing lowering the sales tax to 5 percent and repealing the Airbnb tax as part of his 10-point plan to promote economic recovery in our district. He is committed to serving his constituents in the Plymouth/Barnstable District. While our elected officials are finally organizing a task force to eventually roll out a reopening plan, Jay McMahon has been a forward thinker by extending solutions that will truly benefit those that have been impacted the most significantly.

Please join me in voting for Jay McMahon for state senate on Tuesday, May 19.
