I’m writing to endorse the proposed article for town meeting: “Creating a Green Community Task Force” to reduce our town’s energy usage and to increase its renewable energy potential, while accessing grants from the state.

The Green Communities designation was created in 2010 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to encourage energy reduction while providing grants to facilitate the adjustment.

More than 240 towns in Massachusetts have adopted the Green Communities benefits, obtaining grants worth 44 million dollars. Many of our Cape Cod neighbors, including Mashpee and Yarmouth, have adopted the plan and have received grants for energy conservation.

A Green Community Task Force will assist the town and its members in researching energy grants and renewable energy possibilities while saving money.

Please vote “yes” at town meeting on October 28th to reduce our energy usage and reduce expenses.
