Early this Sunday morning, more than 4,000 cyclists, including eight of your Sandwich neighbors, will make the journey from the Mass Maritime Academy to Provincetown as part of the 40th Pan-Mass Challenge.
The PMC is largest and most efficient athletic fundraiser in country, with 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar going to directly to the Jimmy Fund. Last year, the PMC raised $56 million to support cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Riders start rolling from MMA as early as 5 AM. They cross over the Bourne Bridge in a dedicated lane, then travel east on the canal path to Sandwich. Leaving the marina, they take Freezer Road and then turn left on Tupper and follow it until reaching Route 130 by town hall. Then it’s up Route 130 and a left on the Service Road to the Barnstable town line and beyond.
The majority of riders will be rolling through Sandwich between 5:30 to 7 AM. If you are out and about early, please drive carefully and please share the road. Better yet, grab a coffee and/or the kids and come on out and cheer on the riders as they pedal towards this year’s $60 million goal!
