Sandwich Field Hockey — October 5, 2019

The Sandwich field hockey team has run out to a 10-0 start on the season and have already clinched their Division 2 South Sectional playoff berth.

One goal was all the Blue Knights field hockey team needed to defeat a tough-minded Nauset group at home on Monday, October 7.

Freshman Emily Souke received a well-timed pass from junior Macey White on a penalty corner—the second-straight corner attempt Sandwich received in the first half—and she beat Warriors goalie Connor Boucher from point-blank range with 11:43 remaining.

That goal stood up through halftime until the clock read zero as the Blue Knights picked up its 10th win of the season in a one-goal game, 1-0. The Sandwich offense possessed the ball for most of the game, but Boucher finished the game with 11 saves for Nauset.

In the win, sophomore goalie Sarah Currey picked up her eighth shutout of the year and has allowed only two goals through 10 games.

When these two teams last met in North Eastham on September 18, the Blue Knights escaped with a 2-0 win.

Sandwich (10-0, 5-0 C&I Atlantic) hosts Dennis-Yarmouth on Monday, October 14, at 10 AM. Previously, the Knights won 4-0 in South Yarmouth on September 25 against the team that ousted them from Division 2 South Sectional semifinals last year.
