Maddy Lemire

When her team needed her the most, Sandwich senior Maddy Lemire was there to answer the call.

It was in the first half of the Blue Knights’ Division 2 South Sectional final against Dover-Sherborn on of the Raiders’ many penalty corners amidst a scoreless game when Lemire made her impact.

Dover-Sherborn put the corner in play by the post and a shot got by goalie Sarah Currey and was heading towards the goal. Luckily for Lemire the ball was moving slow enough for her to make a last-second save to deny the goal and keep the game scoreless.

“I told myself I was going to go for the ball and save it,” Lemire said. “I dove for the ball and stopped it.”

Despite her efforts, Sandwich lost, 1-0, to Dover-Sherborn at Taunton High School on Saturday, November 9.
