The Sandwich High School cross country teams had to wait around for the rain to clear a little bit so that they could run their race against Martha’s Vineyard on Tuesday, September 28. Once things were good enough for the runners to run, the squads ran the course around Sandwich High and split their meets. Sandwich’s girls’ team scored a nice win, dominating in a 15-50 victory. The SHS boys were defeated by a 15-48 score.
For the girls, Wren Christy ran to a first-place finish with a winning time of 20 minutes and 32 seconds. Claire Davies was second overall, crossing the finish line in 21:18. Alexa Chroder took third for SHS in 22:39, with Caitlin Kelly crossing the line three seconds later. Grace Weiner rounded out the top five for SHS in 24:17.
Zach Utz of MV won the boys’ race in 17:46. Borja Toran was second in 18 minutes flat. Jonathan Norton was third in 18:13. Dav DaSilva scored fourth place in 18:35 and Daniel Serpa was fifth in 18:39.
