The Sandwich High School varsity boys’ and girls’ swim and dive team swam several strong races against Nauset High School last Thursday, January 6.

The boys’ 200-yard medley relay took first place, with Ryan Milligan, Everett Chapman, Dawson Milligan and Daniel Flynn teaming up. Emma Jakubicka won in a tight race in the 200-yard individual medley. Megan Jakubicka, Everett Chapman and Eunan Kirby all swam sub-30 seconds in their 50-yard freestyle races and Dawson Milligan, a sophomore, qualified for the D2 sectionals in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Junior Kate Harmon took first place in the girls’ one-meter diving competition. Despite strong times, and several winning races, Nauset took the win with 202-134.

This past Monday, January 10, SHS beat Bishop Connolly 94-32 in New Bedford. Senior Cora Palomar-Nelson won the 200-yard girls’ freestyle, and freshman Emma Moynihan won the 100-yard freestyle race. Several swimmers posted strong times including sophomore Donovan Kelly in the 50-yard freestyle race. Posting strong times in the 100-yard backstroke event, junior Kallie Tompkins came in first, and senior Maggie Fomasi took second place.
