Sandwich dropped a tough five-setter to Nauset on Tuesday, March 30. The back-and-forth affair was mired a bit by some questionable officiating that cost Sandwich numerous points throughout the match.
Ella McCabe had a strong game for Sandwich up front. She finished with several blocks and put down three kills. Kaitlyn Lozano scored a pair of aces and served the ball well throughout the match, including a run of six-straight service points at one point in the match.
Erica Sundermeyer also served the ball very well. She had a run of nine-straight service points in the fourth game and finished with six aces overall. Sydney Hanlon had a great all-around game, finishing with 17 assists and eight kills for the Knights.
Paula Tanguilig was strong defensively. She finished with 27 digs in the match and also scored a kill from the back row. Briana Stanton had seven kills in the match.
“The entire team did a great job during this match playing to their best ability,” coach Giulia Leite said. “I look forward to playing them again. We anticipated the back row attacks throughout the entire game and were able to receive almost all of them.”
